The yoga I practise and teach incorporates conscious breathing, energetics, inner focus, fluidity, flexibility, stretching, strength, active postures, restorative postures, dynamic flowing sequences, guided relaxations, spiritual connectedness, stillness and wellbeing.

My yoga style is an eclectic mix of styles that have influenced me over the last 40 years including:

I gained my initial qualification as a Hatha Yoga Level I instructor through Yoga Trinity in 2007 then did Advanced Vinyasa Flow Yoga instructor training with Yoga Trinity in 2009.  I have done further training with Mark Whitwell and Byron Yoga Centre.  I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Australia.

Hatha is a general name for the type of yoga now widely taught in Australia which incorporates breath control (pranayama), postures (asana), flow sequences (vinyasa) and conscious relaxation (savasana).

Yoga means to join, to connect, to unite. We connect body, mind and breath through the practice of yoga. We connect our individual self with the universal self through yoga.

Practising postures helps keep us flexible, strong, grounded and healthy. But asana practice is more than just a physical workout. Mindful asana and vinyasa practice brings the body, breath, brain, nerves, energy, consciousness and self together in a focused harmonious whole.

Breath (prana) is vital energy or life force, thus breath is the energetic opening between our physical body and our mind. Breath is the foundation of our yoga practice. Breath guides our physical movement. Breath is the entry point into our subtle body, our energetic layer, our chakra system, our inner wisdom and our connection to a higher consciousness. Breath - inspiration - makes our yoga spiritual, inspired, divine.

Pranayama and asana help us to focus and quiet our minds, to find mental calm within ourselves, so we can more easily surrender to relaxation and meditation. We do the active doing to enable us to be in the stillness of our being.


For those who have come to grow, the whole world is a garden.

For those who have come to know god, the whole world is a prayer mat.
